Trade Center Adustelan, also informally known as the World Trade Center or simply the Trade Center, is a complex of buildings modeled after six of the seven original World Trade Center buildings in New York City located in the City of Adustelan, which sits on a lot bordered by Soundsurf Avenue, Rarity Street, Myrtle Avenue, and Werkheiser Street in City Center. They are the only builds in the city which are direct replicas of prior existing buildings.

As of 2017, Trade Center Adustelan Towers 1 and 2 are the third- and fifth-tallest buildings in the city, respectively.

In Minecraft, the original incarnation of Trade Center Adustelan existed from August 2011 until January 21, 2015, when the complex was almost entirely redone. This makes it only the second building or complex of buildings in the city to be completely rebuilt from an original incarnation, second only to the Adustelan Bank Tower. In addition, the plaza was also rotated 180 degrees from its original orientation.

History (fictional)[]

After the destruction of the World Trade Center during the September 11 attacks in New York City, the proposal for a tribute recreation of the site came about in June of 2002. Alfred Scott drew up the plans for it to fit into multiple cities, the City of Adustelan being one of them, and even volunteered to fund the entire project himself. A dozen cities worldwide were nominated to host the project.

  • New York City, New York, United States (primary consideration)
  • Boston, Massachusetts, United States
  • Chicago, Illinois, United States
  • Toronto, Ontario, Canada
  • Singapore, Singapore
  • Adustelan, Carraway Island
  • Cape Town, South Africa
  • London, England, United Kingdom
  • Berlin, Germany
  • Vienna, Austria
  • Tokyo, Japan
  • Oslo, Norway

New York City ultimately dismissed the offer to focus efforts on building a different complex of buildings to take on the WTC moniker. In May 2003, Adustelan ultimately received the rights and funds to build the replica. Scott claimed that it would create jobs and increase tourist revenue in the emerging city. There was much controversy on the topic which was debated for over a year, but despite protest Scott began groundbreaking in City Center in October of 2003, on the former site of Cleveland Square. The project literally could not get off the ground for the first year of construction due to Scott's questionable actions and avoidance of the public's opinions, and the project site was left completely dormant beginning in January 2005. However, after many legal battles threatened to sink Scott financially, building progressed once more in April of 2006. The complex, save for 7 TCA was completed in August of 2009 and quickly became one of the city's most popular attractions. 7 TCA was definitively scrapped from construction plans late in 2009, and its intended footprint is now the site of Mintz Schaal Plaza.

The complex has received a large amount of both praise and criticism, many still believing it should not have been constructed say that it was a rip-off of New York's unparalleled ingenuity, and an insult to the loss it has suffered (not paying mind to the fact that New York had primary consideration for the initial offer). However, Scott has dismissed such comments and stands by his actions, focusing on the fact that it has been hailed by the nation's public for its remarkable attention to detail and accuracy.

The complex also serves as a memorial to the September 11 attacks despite Scott's claims that the site wasn't intended to be one (rather simply an architectural tribute), which sparked considerable media backlash. The complex in New York City built instead of Scott's proposal was built on the same site as the original WTC; its main building, One World Trade Center, opened for business on November 3, 2014.

Development in Minecraft[]

The World Trade Center was built by FalconStorm in July of 2011, and has been an ongoing project since (various other builders can be attributed to some details throughout the complex). The original version of the complex only included buildings 1-6, with 3 WTC being only a model without any practical use. It was as well cut short by the height limit at the time, which stalled its completion. 7 World Trade Center was added once the planned First Adustelan Hospital was removed.

In 2011 the site began its second surge for completion. The towers were extended with the 1.2.1 height increase, and thus came the rooftop observation deck on 2 WTC and the Windows on the World restaurant in 1 WTC. 3 WTC was rebuilt in June 2012 to make it a useable building. The site would undergo numerous rennovation throughout its existance, including the additions of water elevators, a basement and parking garage, different designs for the mall, and many smaller details. As of September 2013, the site was deemed to be mostly complete, with the exception of tennants to fill every floor. In an accompanying Reddit post that month, the build was generally praised for the details in which other replicas lacked.

A major structural renovation of the Mall at Trade Center Adustelan was carried out on September 30, 2014, and was completed a few days later. The interiors of Trade Center 4, 5, 6, and 7 were also renovated.

Despite all the progress made to the complex between 2011 and 2015, the majority of the structure, including the Twin Towers, began complete reconstruction on January 21, 2015. 7 Trade Center Adustelan was removed entirely and was replaced in March 2015 by Mintz Schaal Plaza. This also involved the 180 degree rotation of the entire plaza, such that the North Tower is now actually pointing North (whether following Minecraft directions or Adustelan directions).
